THE POSITION
The General Manager is responsible for the Company’s performance and for managing all functional areas including Project Management, Sales & Marketing, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Safety, Product Development, Product Line Management, Finance and Human Resources.
The General Manager has full P&L responsibility, including setting and executing strategic direction focusing on growth, financial management for the business, operations and leading the business unit team to delivering projects on time and within budget. This position is based in Tikhvin, Leningradskyi region and reports to MD Wabtec Russia/CIS, who works in Moscow, Russia.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Achieve, maintain, and drive profitability requirements throughout the organization
- Full responsibility for the achievement of the business unit strategic and financial goals
- Drive the Wabtec Performance System (WPS) to establish a fully lean and profit-oriented culture within MPI that mirrors the culture expected by Wabtec Corporation
- Provide leadership to the organization and establish high performance standards and accountability at every level of the company
- Develop a world-class project management culture to achieve maximum productivity and completion of projects in full accordance with as-sold schedules and budgeted margins
- Develop a world-class health, safety and environmental program that includes a zero accident culture, and complies with all company standards and local/national regulations
- Establish key performance metrics, evaluate operational results, proactively take corrective actions, and continuously drive opportunities for improvement
- Optimize the organizational structure to ensure it is scalable and can support the annual growth target represented in the strategic plan (STRAP)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define, review and implement the company’s 5-year strategic plans in accordance with Joint Venture and Corporate strategy
- Develop and implement organizational plans for delivering results
- Develop and achieve the annual budget and STRAP for the Executive Office and prudently
- manage the organization's resources within those budget guidelines according to
- current laws and regulations
- Integrate external and internal resources to develop and enlarge business market, and to meet Corporate objectives
- Develop sustainable relationships with major clients and provide leadership during negotiations when working with the sales team
- Persistently improve and implement QPS management
- Make proper business planning, reporting, forecasting and analysis
- Looks to the future for change and continuous improvement opportunities
- Effectively integrate organizational changes related to the organization’s mission
- Oversee design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs, products and services
- Direct and coordinate the promotion of products manufactured or services performed to develop new markets, increase share of market, and obtain a more competitive position in the industry
- Create, communicate and implement changes to policy, program, or operations
- changes that will drive efficiency and/or sales
- Managing and lead the business unit team and all related people management responsibilities, including hiring, employee communications, training, performance management and discipline responsibilities
- Strictly be in compliance with Company Policy
- Other special projects, as required
THE CANDIDATE
Leadership

Management/Technical Experience
- Highly proficient in English and Russian –Written and Spoken; Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly, comfortably and effectively deliver presentations, provide written and verbal instructions and compile and present business reports/correspondence
- Proven track-record of significant P&L responsibility throughout his / her career and will have developed a reputation for consistently delivering results
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership role, preferably in an operations and/or engineering environment
- Demonstrated track record for delivering results
- Ability to develop marketing and sales strategies
- Capable of planning and organizing work and processes; ability to self-direct multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Analytical and reasoning ability and good judgment for complex business decisions and strategic planning
- Ability to maintain good and stable relationship with current clients, and develop new ones to enlarge business market;
- Interpersonal skills to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Entrepreneurial and commercial attitude and experience, as well as spirit of innovation
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to travel as required
Education Credentials
- Bachelor degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or Business Administration or equivalent; MBA preferred
- Rail, automotive, energy industry background, with experience in rail technologies would be highly preferred but not required;
