The role is primarily a Field Engineering and Construction Management role for brownfield modification projects on a large oil and gas facility. Project Superintendent will direct the day-to-day management of FMM operations, applying a hands-on approach where necessary to overcome strategic, engineering, procurement, execution, logistical and technical challenges. The purpose of the role is to maintain a high-performing, innovative, project team that is capable of delivering modification project services to the highest industry standards.
Kentech Field Managed Modification (FMM) team is a Project group working under a Kentech maintenance contract on the Sakhalin-1 Project in Russia. FMM Project discipline scope primarily includes Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I); Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R); Control and Automation (C&A); and Telecommunications.
Leadership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Kentech for all matters associated with Field Managed Modification (FMM) engineering and construction projects.
- Bring experience from previous engineering management roles to ensure the effective and compliant delivery of the FEED (Front End Engineering & Design) and Detailed Design stages of modification projects, as per Russian standards and regulations.
- Manage multiple FMM projects through the engineering, procurement and execution phases, ensuring compliance with client requirements, Kentech Group IMS Procedures, site environmental policies and Russian standards & regulations.
- Manage resource and subcontractor execution planning, mobilization, execution and deliverable turnover requirements.
- Provide strong, decisive, leadership and guidance so that the requirements of each project are clearly understood, communicated and executed;
- Assist and support in effective mentorship/coaching/guidance for project EPC teams.
Process & Project Management
- Coordinate the receipt, analysis, tracking and response to client facility modification opportunity requests.
- Ensure the delivery of accurate cost estimate proposals for brownfield scoping surveys, engineering, detailed design, material & service procurement and construction execution phases of FMM projects.
- Schedule and manage multiple ongoing brownfield surveys; ensuring a high quality survey report deliverable is produced for each project, capturing regulatory considerations, project objectives, existing design, proposed technical modification concept, detailed execution strategy and deliverables for operations (DFO).
- Assume responsibility for the development of all Kentech engineering and design project deliverables such as newly developed or modified design basis, conceptual sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, detailed construction drawings, philosophies, matrices and other data.
- Manage all engineering and design activities to ensure that all project documentation produced is aligned with client engineering specifications, International standards and Russian GOST standards.
- Lead and coordinate project Constructability Reviews to determine safe execution approach, other contractor and subcontractor interfaces, cost effectiveness and technical & regulatory compliance.
- Supervise the development of detailed technical Material Take-Off (MTO) lists for technical and commercial approval, utilizing Kentech Integrated Management System (IMS) tools and procedures.
- Supervise the development of detailed construction schedules, procedures, execution and test packages to support project delivery and execution.
- Lead the preparation of ePTW’s (electronic Permit-to-Work) and accompanying JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis), detailing all the task steps, hazards and controls necessary for safe work execution as per client work management system.
- Co-ordinate with other contractors and plant personnel to meet schedule and permitting requirements.
- Lead QAQC and Document Control department in the preparation and turnover of project deliverables.
- Manage Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning planning, coordination and execution for all projects.
Continual Improvement:
- Improve existing processes used for managing; Opportunity Receipt; Technical Queries; Survey Reports; Detailed Design; Material Procurement Status; Subcontractor Performance; Fabrication; FATs; Construction Execution; Deliverables for Turnover (DFO) ; & Lessons Learned.
- Establish reporting on;
- Comparison of actual progress and performance against the various project baseline schedules, plans and budgets;
- Forecasting of costs at completion and schedule activities;
- Assessment of performance to determine whether any corrective or preventative process actions are required and recommendation of the same;
- Identification, analysis, tracking and reporting of risks and the associated response plans;
- Establish and maintain database information collection systems to foster a ‘drill-down’ and ‘roll-up’ approach to managing incoming field and client information. Using this information, develop and trend Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to indicate overall project progress, cost analysis and resource management.
Health, Safety, Environmental & Security
- Lead Constructability and Commissionability screening workshops using HAZID & HAZOP techniques.
- Assume a Safety Leadership role within Kentech site team, performing Risk Assessments, Site Safety Audits, Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) reviews and hazard card submittals.
- Sustain an incident free work environment by ensuring the implementation of safe systems of work to safeguard the health and safety of all personnel affected by our activities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, the Kentech Group IMS Procedures and all of the key functions of the business, including licensing, QHSE requirements, procurement, IT, recruitment and human resource management, finance, legal compliance and anti-bribery and corruption
Skills Requirement
- Project Management reporting skills, sound business knowledge and decision making abilities.
- Ability to establish project key performance indicators
- Knowledgeable in Multi-Discipline Engineering and construction terminology, Contractor Interfacing, Project Engineering and EPC Project phases.
- General Understanding of project specifications and piping, electrical, instrumentation & HVAC nomenclature
- Thorough knowledge of Safety Regulations and Procedures for oilfield related facilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Experience in utilizing International standards, National Regulations, Codes and Technical Specifications.
- Teamwork, initiative, self-motivated, good and clear communication skills
- Expert level AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Visio, MS Word and MS Project / Primavera experience desirable
28 days on / 28 days off rotation. Primarily based in Chayvo Onshore Processing Facility, however conditions will require inter-facility transfer as required, including offshore. Overtime may be required in case of facility shutdown, equipment breakdown or unplanned troubleshooting / repair. Shared accommodation possible
